Cannon 2015

Neptunus focusses on Canon EXPO 2015

Northampton: February 17, 2015: Structures supplied by Neptunus featured at Cisco Live! in Milan when the company was appointed by leading global experience marketing agency George P Johnson (GPJ) to provide extra space for Cisco’s flagship annual technical training, networking and education event.

Working for creative agency and long-term client Imagination Europe, Neptunus supplied a number of structures to supplement the space available in the impressive Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris where Canon’s event took place from 13-15 October 2015.

During the three-days 18,500 visitors entered the exhibition that takes place once every five years, and registered in an 875 square metre x 8m high Evolution II structure that featured an internal staircase and was joined by four linked Alu Halls creating cloakrooms.
A 2,200 square metre Evolution II structure incorporating blackout roof skins to house tiered seating and a Keynote Speakers stage provided the platform for Canon to offer a glimpse of the latest research projects in development at its headquarters in Tokyo including a 120MP camera, an ultra-telephoto lens for night photography and 8K cameras.

Elsewhere two sleek and linked Alure Globes featuring front glazing, a terrace and covered walkway from the Grande Hall formed a 2,400 square metre dining hall serving 1,600 meals each day. Neptunus also supplied kitchen, toilet, back of house and staff catering areas.
Working to a tight timeframe it took just 10 days to build all of the structures that were delivered on site by 28 trucks.
Neptunus Managing Director April Trasler said: “We started the build on a Saturday to meet Imagination’s tenancy at the venue. As artic trucks are not allowed to drive on French roads on a Sunday, 17 trucks were delivered on the first day to make sure we had enough equipment on site to keep our 20-strong team busy and to ensure we stayed ahead of the critical build schedule to allow the other trades enough time for the fit out.”

Other challenges included the terrain. April added: “As the land adjacent to the Grande Hall is grass featuring a series of underground services and tunnels and the entrance structure was placed on cobbled stones, we incorporated ballast to pin the structures into their footprint to ensure visitors were not faced with any unsightly external concrete!”

David Spiers, Production Director, Imagination Europe, said: “Having worked with Neptunus at the previous event in 2010 we were confident they could deliver the high quality structures required for this kind of prestigious event. We had very tight schedules for both the build and the dismantle.”

He added: “We had very firm design ideas in terms of overall style and finish. We also had very firm requirements both in terms of safe working practices and, working in France, the fact all other structures need the necessary certification paperwork to allow them to be built. We looked at many options and Neptunus clearly offered the best solutions. We were absolutely delighted with the result.”

Neptunus and Oliver Newin Events link-up at Cisco Live! in Milan

Northampton: February 17, 2015: Structures supplied by Neptunus featured at Cisco Live! in Milan when the company was appointed by leading global experience marketing agency George P Johnson (GPJ) to provide extra space for Cisco’s flagship annual technical training, networking and education event.

Thousands of IT professionals attended Cisco Live! Milan 2015 which was staged at the Milano Congressi from January 26-30. However, such was the popularity of the industry’s top educational forum that additional space was required at the city’s conference centre to accommodate the numerous workshops and meetings which the event is renowned for. During the five-day long event attendees had the opportunity of joining in hundreds of sessions including seminars, training programmes and inter-active workshops which showcased the very latest developments and technological advancements in the world of IT.

GPJ appointed temporary structure specialists Neptunus to provide the solution for extra space in an assignment overseen by Oliver Newin Events (ONE), responsible for project managing the process on behalf of GPJ.

Neptunus technicians took just two days build an 860 sq metre Alure Globe structure, with access ramps and flooring, that was sectioned off into meeting rooms, offices and reception areas for the GPJ events team and representatives from their client, Cisco. Providing a specialist facility for the back-of-house team allowed vital space to be freed up inside the main arena to accommodate a special ‘meetings village’.

The Alure Globe structure, with a covered walkway, was erected on the concourse outside of the main conference centre. Neptunus’ technical team also worked closely with electrical and heating specialists to accommodate the wiring requirements and to ensure the facility was warm.

As well as co-ordinating the build of the structure, Oliver Newin was responsible for managing the internal fit-out of the facility, including carpeting and lighting – working in conjunction with the Milano Congressi’s in-house team of experts.

Mark Bannister, GPJ’s Technical Director, Cisco Live!, said: “We appointed ONE to help us source the right structure provider to fit the requirements for our back-of-house space at Cisco Live! The structure housed the George P Johnson team and our Cisco clients so the structure had to be high-quality and well insulated to help keep the team warm during cold January weather. Oliver Newin helped us navigate the various venue and local authority requirements and was onsite to oversee the build and fit out of the structure. Oliver’s involvement meant we achieved the best possible prices, the most efficient use of the space and ensured the smooth completion of the build.”

Speaking of Neptunus’ role, Mark Bannister added: “Having supplied the Cisco’s hospitality structure on the roof of Westfield shopping centre during the London 2012 Olympics, Neptunus were the natural choice of supplier for Cisco Live! when the requirement arose for a structure to house the George P Johnson and Cisco teams’ offices and back of house space onsite at the event – freeing up valuable space inside the venue for a new meeting village.
“The structure was of a high-quality and its superior insulation helped keep the team warm – to such an extent that it felt like an extension of the main venue. The build and strike teams were efficient and did a great job, maintaining a safe and tidy site and completing the build ahead of schedule. Neptunus confirmed again their position as George P Johnson’s go-to supplier for structures in Europe.”

EMEA’s next Cisco Live! will take place in Berlin on February 15-19, 2016.

Neptunus’ Evolution structure takes exhibition space at Farnborough International Airshow 2014 to new heights

Northampton: July 18, 2014: Temporary structure specialists Neptunus created a unique three-storey exhibition, business and hospitality centre for leading aerospace and defence technology company Thales Group for the 2014 Farnborough International Airshow.

Guests of Thales had some of the best views of the runway and flying displays from a bespoke facility that took Neptunus’ technicians just three weeks to construct. The 1600 square metres Evolution building, erected on 13.6 metre tall legs, provided unobstructed views across the airfield.

The assignment was part of a two-show contract awarded to Northamptonshire-based Neptunus by airshow organisers Farnborough International Ltd (FIL). Thales Group is one of the biggest names in the aerospace and defence industry, providing electronic on-board equipment and ground-based systems to commercial aviation businesses and major air forces around the world.
Working very closely with Thales Group and its Exhibitions and Events team, Neptunus was responsible for the entire project including the internal fit-out which involved ground-floor exhibition space, press accommodation, meeting rooms; a dining area for VIP guests on the first floor and a second floor bistro and bar where guests could enjoy superb views from the external balcony.

The Evolution is ideally suited to events like the airshow as it can be constructed quickly in any location without comprising on the quality of the finished building. Insulated walls and the double-skinned, air-filled roof help to maintain a comfortable interior while reducing climate control costs and emissions. The mezzanines are strong enough to support hanging exhibits and Neptunus also arranged air conditioning, electrics, washrooms and kitchens for the facility, along with all the floor coverings, telecoms, furnishings, graphics, fire fighting equipment and even the flowers and cleaners.

Farnborough International Airshow, staged this year from July 14-21, is the premier gathering of the aviation industry where multi-million pound deals are struck, new developments announced and aircraft capabilities showcased in breathtaking displays of skill and daring.
A packed schedule throughout the week saw several Farnborough firsts including appearances from the light attack and reconnaissance Textron Airland Scorpian and the Spanish Navy’s Sea Harrier.

The Structure Group

What an awesome year 2012 has been. We’ve seen Team GB win 185 medals in both the Olympics and Paralympics of which TSG can lay claim to providing sports performance decks in three competition areas…

Managing Director April Trasler says: “We are quite used to building standard three-storey structures and have lots of experience of building Evolutions with one internal mezzanine to create a two-tier temporary building, but this marks a first for us as we’ve needed to add the leg height for the second internal mezzanine for guests to be able to see over other structures at the show, making it our first three-storey Evolution.”
“The Evolution building provided guests of Thales with a superb viewing platform from which to enjoy the amazing aerial displays and we look forward to repeating the experience in 2016!”
A spokesperson for Thales Group said: “We are very pleased to have worked with Neptunus on this project and we are having a very successful show. We have received many compliments from senior management and guests.’’
